Remo Perli, chief investigator at the Estonian Anti-Doping and Sports Ethics Foundation (EADSE), recommends that the Estonian Skating Federation involves people from outside in the committee investigating the Anna Levandi case. In an interview on ETV show "Terevisioon," Perli expressed hope that the law will move in a direction whereby the EADSE will also be able to deal with misconduct cases in all sports in Estonia.

Figure skating coach Anna Levandi, who has been accused by former students of mental and physical abuse, filed a similar complaint against coach Stanislav Zhuk during her own career. Zhuk lost his job at the CSKA sports club as a result of the complaint, essentially bringing his successful career to an end.

Tõnis Sildaru, the father of Estonian Olympic freestyle skiing bronze medalist Kelly Sildaru, has been acquitted on charges of assault and threatening behavior, as the Prosecutor's Office said there was insufficient evidence against him. Sildaru was however, charged with the illegal use of property earned by his underage daughter.

The Estonian team had to settle for joint fifth place in the competition, which they shared with Scotland.

The Estonian mixed doubles curling pair of Marie Kaldvee and Harri Lill lost their final world championship group match 6-8 against the Netherlands, meaning they failed to progress straight to the semi-finals. The Estonians still have another chance to make it to the semis however, when they face Norway in the qualification round on Friday.

30.03.23 NEWS ... Estonia ended the recent World Triathlon Winter Championships in Norway with a total of six medals. Two of those were won by 74-year-old Juhan Lukk, who recorded victories in both of the championships' senior men's events. On Wednesday, Lukk was given a hero's welcome as he returned to his hometown of Palivere, Lääne County with two new gold medals.

22.02.23 NEWS ... This Saturday, the 25th Tallinn Ski Marathon is set to take place in Kõrvemaa. The Tallinn Marathon is the fourth stage of this year's "Estoloppet" series, which also includes other ski marathons in Tartu, Viru, Alutaguse, Haanja and Tamsalu-Neeruti. On the day, there will be marathons of 38km and 19km as well as races for children.

On Tuesday morning the formal decision was mad to confirm, that the main races of the 49th Tartu Ski Marathon (63 and 31 kilometers respectively) will go ahead as planned along the full original route, stretching from Otepää to Elva. The marathon takes place this Sunday, February 19.

However, more recently, there have been increasing suggestions that they may soon return to top-level international sport. Indrek Kannik, head of the International Center for Defense Studies, Tallinn University senior lecturer in recreation management Kaarel Zilmer, Estonian Ice Hockey Federation President Rauno Parras, and basketball legend Heino Enden discussed the situation on Vikeraadio.
