Estonian sprinter break and re-breaks national U20 100m record in Oregon
Estonian sprinter Dmitri Petrogradov broke the domestic under 20s 100 meter record in the United States.
Petrogradov in fact broke and then rebroke the record on day one at the ongoing World U20 Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
He clocked 10.37 seconds in the heats, securing a place in the semifinals and breaking his own PB and the domestic record of 10.43, set just two weeks earlier at the national Championships in Pärnu.
In the semifinal a few hours later, the Estonian continued his strong form and ran 10.31 seconds in the semifinal, placing him 10th overall and bringing a new national record again.
Of the other over a dozen Estonians taking part in Oregon, Miia Ott clocked a season-best 11.64 seconds, which placed her 30th in the girls' 100 meters, Allika Inkeri Moser advanced to the final after clearing 4.10 meters in the pole vault, Katarina Versti came 24th in the girls' discus with a throw of 46.47 meters, and Mia Uusorg, competing in the girls' heptathlon, set a personal best of 13.71 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and in the shot put with 11.33 meters. and was in ninth place by the end of the day one, while Annika Põlluaas finished 21st in the heptathlon's first day.
The championships run to Sunday.
