Tallinn Opens Speakers' Corner

A designated speakers’ corner, inspired by the one in London’s Hyde Park, has been established in Tallinn’s Snelli Park.
“People must have an opportunity to say what’s on their minds - if it is against the main flow or not, either in Estonian, Russian, Finnish or Latvian,” Deputy Mayor Mihhail Korb told Pealinn, the city’s official newspaper, on Monday.
The location was chosen so the voice of the speakers could be heard by the Cabinet in Stenbock House, atop Toompea hill just next to the park, as well as by the government of Tallinn’s City Center district.
