Due to extraordinarily cold weather: Studded tires permitted until May 7

Due to the unusually cold and stormy weather, the Road Administration has decided to extend the period during which drivers can use studded winter tires to the first week of May.
Though the law didn’t specify a possible extension into May, the danger the current positions posed for drivers and other participants in traffic justified the unusual measure, the Police and Border Guard (PPA) said.
The safety of people in traffic was the most important aspect, and it couldn’t be guaranteed without the right sort of tires on cars. Still, the most important thing was drivers’ behavior—PPA asked everyone to take the current conditions into account, and to drive accordingly.
By the law, studded tires are allowed until the end of March, in the case of lastingly wintry conditions until the end of April. The extension into May is extraordinary.
