Two Soldiers Wounded in Afghanistan Blasts

Two Estonian soldiers were wounded on June 16 in separate bomb blasts close to the town of Nad-e-Ali in Afghanistan's Helmand province. Their lives are not in danger.
In the first incident, an Estonian soldier was lightly wounded in the explosion of an improvised bomb, a statement from the Defense Forces said. After receiving first aid from the infantry unit's paramedic, the man was transported by helicopter to Camp Bastion.
Later that day, Estonian troops discovered a second improvised explosive device and began marking it, when they were attacked by insurgents. Chards from a hand grenade left a second Estonian soldier with non-life-threatening wounds, who was also admitted to the base hospital.
The Estonian infantry unit Estcoy-12 was deployed to Afghanistan in May, after the scheduled withdrawal of Estcoy-11. The Estonian Defense Forces have participated in the NATO-led mission to Afghanistan since 2003.
