Last Nordica plane departs Tallinn as Estonian airline shuts down

The final Nordica jet took off from Tallinn Airport Tuesday, ending the airline's operations after its bankruptcy and the sale of all leased planes.
Transpordi Varahaldus, the Estonian state-owned company that owned Nordica's planes, handed over the last of seven 88-seat Bombardier CRJ900NG jets to the buyer Tuesday.
The planes had been leased to Nordica's subsidiary Regional Jet, which filed for bankruptcy along with the parent company in November 2024. The aircraft were sold to U.S.-based Regional One last June.
Nordica launched in 2015, ahead of the bankruptcy of the flag carrier Estonian Air. It flew under its own name from Tallinn until fall 2019, before moving into subcontracting services.
The airline was declared bankrupt in court in January 2025, followed in February by a bankruptcy ruling for Regional Jet, which had flown under the Xfly brand.
Transpordi Varahaldus began operations in October 2015.
