Soldier Wounded in Afghanistan on Christmas

An Estonian soldier suffered non-life-threatening wounds from an explosion in Afghanistan on Christmas Day.
After initial treatment at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, the serviceman was transported to a hospital in the UK, reported Õhtuleht.
A press representative of the Defense Forces, Ingrid Mühling, said the soldier from the Estcoy-13 infantry unit had been wounded by an improvised explosive device.
The soldier's identity, age, or severity of the wounds have not been disclosed. But Mühling said transport to the UK does not necessarily mean that the wounds are severe.
The soldier's grandmother had contacted the media, saying she was angered by the military's attitude. "They were quick to send [him or her] to war, but when [he or she] was hurt, there was silence," the woman said.
Eight Estonian soldiers have fallen, and another 60 have been wounded in the war in Afghanistan.
